our story
The Reef, our new $8.5 million home stadium features 4,500 total seats, synthetic turf, and a shark-themed design. The stadium officially opened on September 5, 2025, allowing the team to host games on-campus for the first time.
The Southside football team was established in 2017 and rapidly established itself as a competitive Louisiana 5A program, known for a 2022 landmark win over Acadiana and deep playoff runs. Under leaders like Josh Fontenot and current coach Jess Curtis, the Sharks moved from playing "home" games in St. Martinville to their own on-campus stadium by 2025.
